FDA grants Orphan Drug Designation to LMP01 for malignant glioma
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted Orphan Drug Designation to LMP01 for the treatment of malignant glioma, which includes glioblastoma. The designation is given to investigational therapies for rare diseases affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the United States.
Orphan Drug Designation provides development incentives, including tax credits for qualified clinical testing and exemption from certain FDA user fees, as well as seven years of market exclusivity in the United States if the product is approved for the designated use.
